The Path to PR

After graduating and working in Germany, you can apply for a settlement permit (Niederlassungserlaubnis). Graduates of German universities qualify after just 2 years of qualified employment with pension contributions. EU Blue Card holders can qualify even faster — in as little as 21 months with B1 German.

  • Graduate of a German university: PR after 2 years of work
  • EU Blue Card: PR after 27 months, or 21 months with B1 German
  • Requirements: secure job, pension contributions, basic German, adequate housing
